Crystal Pyramid Band
About Us

In case you forgot (or never knew) - We are the core of ...uh ...yes....the Crystal Pyramid Band from the late 70's and early 80's that played throughout the New England area. Wow, what a good time (blur) that was....and guess what? We still play the same music - nothing but the finest R&R from bands and artists like The Doobies, ZZ Top, John Cougar, Bad Company, Eric Clapton, .38 Special, etc...we'll even get you dancing when we play Jenny Jenny (867-5309) and What I Like About You - to name a few. Oh, and how about some Dave Mason????......how's that for versatile (schizophrenic).......come out and Ya Ya!, and bring your own Kazoo if you want to sit in. You never know who might show up and join us onstage including former CPB bandmates and other talented or notorious musical guests. We're just out to play some great music, have a good time, and visit with fans and friends.

Roger Maude

Guitar and Vocals

Roger began playing guitar in his teens and never looked back. Within a year he had formed the nucleous of what was to be Crystal Pyramid with Steve Lees on drums, his Uncle Joe Perun on bass, and Mike O'Brien on vocals.

Roger has been a member of Rat Bat Blue, and currently also plays with Blue Sue & the Moondogs throughout the area. He plays Gibson Custom Shop, Tom Anderson, and Fender Custom Shop electric guitars through Marshall, Fender, Dr Z,  and Mesa Boogie amps, and uses Alvarez acoustic guitars. His main squeeze with the CPB is a Gibson Custom Shop '60 Les Paul.

Brian Kuchmas

Bass Guitar and Vocals.

Brian, a.k.a. Kuch, began playing bass in the late 70's, yep, that long ago. He started out playing guitar, strumming chords that Roger showed him, while Roger began perfecting his soloing techniques. A semi short time later Kuch got promoted from roadie to bassist after the departure of Uncle Joe in what was the earliest incarnation of The Crystal Pyramid Band. We won't get into all of the details, but Kuch got himself a bass and an amp and the rest is history. From there it was background vocals, yeah, a couple of words and some ahhs, and then some leads - after which you couldn't shut him up!

Kuch was also a member of the band Rat Bat Blue. He is also currently playing bass for The Norman Lane Band and Crossroads Community Church - Yep!, you got that right. Amen!

Kuch plays on Yamaha, Fender, and Rickenbacker basses through A.M.P. or Hartke amplification and Hartke Cabs.

Mark Rudzinski

Drums and Vocals

Mark met Roger and Kuch in a galaxy long ago called Trumbull High. Crystal Pyramid was discretely looking for a new drummer and they found just what the band needed in Mark.

Mark, a lifelong musician, has played with numerous acts, including Bone Machine, Rufus Mandana, Butch Taylor, and the Detonators and is currently playing with Sol Dog who has two studio CD's and is gigging on a regular basis. One of Mark's biggest accomplishment to date is having turned down an audition with Michael Bolton, who by the way, if you've been from around these parts for as long as we have, was originally know as Michael Boloton, (Does anybody know what happened to the other "o"?) whom he next heard two months later on the radio, with a hit song.
Energetic and enthusiastic, Mark is a driving force behind much of what goes on behind the scenes with the band. When not wandering the countryside making music with his friends, Mark restores vintage Triumph automobiles, and has won several competitions.
Mark is also a proud dad of his two really cool sons Christopher and Thaddeus!

Mark plays on a Smith custom (located in good ole' Bridgeport, CT) and or Gretsch (yep, he still has the monster plus!) drums, DW Pedals, and Zildjian cymbals
