The short version:

Way back in a time warp called the 70’s the earliest incarnation of The CPB happened up in the highest room and out in the barn on 228 Stonehouse Road in Trumbull CT. Guitarist Roger Maude, Bassist/Guitarist Joe Perun, and Drummer Steve Lees began jamming on some tunes and really got into the groove. They added a singer to the mix, a one Mike O’Brien, and the band was off and running.

But the band needs a name!

The Name Crystal Pyramid came from a pharmaceutical dictionary that Steve Lees had – his dad was a pharmacist.

Crystal Pyramid - a 5-sided crystalline pyramid where light entering from the sides is focused into a single beam exiting from its apex.

It’s just as simple as that! The force, the light, the power of each musician joining together into one sound – musical, powerful, rocking and rolling!

Through the end of the 70’s and into the early 80’s The CPB saw it ranks grow; it was at one time a 7 member rock and roll powerhouse, and finally by the middle of the decade had turned into the power trio of Roger, Kuch, and Mark.
